Get Off On the Right Foot
With Your Best Friend
We adopted Fritz from a local shelter when he was 12 weeks old. Fritz is a purebred German Shepherd and soon grew to exhibit the characteristics common to his breed. By the age of seven months he was big enough to pull me off-balance when on leash, intimidate visitors and, while he had learned the word "come", he had also learned to ignore it when convenient.
Fritz and I spent several sessions working with Lisa. Lisa trained Fritz and she trained me as well. By teaching me techniques that I could practice with Fritz throughout the week, he has learned to walk courteously on leash. Lisa also taught me techniques to use with Fritz to manage his attempts at intimidation when visitors arrived.
And “come” is now one of his favorite commands. Lisa taught me to make “come” into a fun experience for him and, as a result, he now tears through the yard to get to me when I call for him. Dog training is a continuous process but, thanks to Lisa, Fritz and I are off to a good start.
